Egg Farmers of Canada recognizes Harold Froese with Lifetime Achievement Award
OTTAWA, August 18, 2025 – Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is pleased to announce that Harold Froese, a long-time egg industry leader, has been honoured with the first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Froese has been a pillar of the egg farming sector for decades and has made a range of important contributions in support of the advancement of fundamental agricultural policies and frameworks.
In 2021, Mr. Froese took on the immense role of guiding the final discussions of the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Agreement (FPTA) on Guiding Principles for the Marketing of Eggs in Canada, a pan-Canadian agreement which modernized the underlying framework for egg marketing in Canada. Under his leadership as Chair of the FPTA committee, the Agreement was endorsed by all egg boards, and 10 provincial governments and the Northwest Territories. This monumental accomplishment represented a historic outcome for Canadian egg farmers and a bright future of our sector.
“Harold’s impact extends well past the farm gate. He is known for his impressive ability to inspire others to put their differences aside and work together to address some of our sector’s biggest challenges,” said Roger Pelissero, Chair of EFC. “We deeply appreciate what he has done in his career as a farmer, mentor and advocate. Harold’s legacy will have a lasting impact on generations of farmers and he has helped clear a path forward to a promising future for egg farming in Canada.”
Raised on an egg farm in Manitoba, Mr. Froese graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He began his career at Farm Credit Canada, returning to the family farm in Oak Bluff in 1983. He served on the Manitoba Egg Farmers, Egg Farmers of Canada and Canadian Federation of Agriculture Boards of Directors. Throughout this time, he dedicated countless hours to debates and discussions that strengthened the egg farming sector and Canada’s broader food system.
Mr. Froese was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award during the national Producer Conference and Meeting in St. Andrews, New Brunswick. The event welcomed egg farmers from across Canada and included a variety of keynote speakers and industry experts.
