Meet the leaders in our women in the egg industry program

Since its launch in 2019, Egg Farmers of Canada’s women in the egg industry program has been supporting women in leadership roles across the sector. Through a unique combination of mutual mentorship, leadership training and nationwide networking, the program fosters and facilitates knowledge transfer and helps build lasting relationships among women farmers.

We are thrilled to introduce our latest cohort—seven dynamic leaders who are making the most of the opportunity to learn, share their expertise and play an important role in the future of Canadian agriculture.

Sarah’s career in the egg industry began unexpectedly when a summer research job sparked a fascination with poultry. Today, she travels across southwestern Ontario in her role at McKinley Hatchery to help farmers troubleshoot issues and optimize hen health and production—all while balancing life on her own farm and raising two young children. She thrives on the industry’s constant variety, seeing every flock as a fresh opportunity to learn, adapt and solve problems.

Morgan combines her deep roots in a multi-generational farming family with experience as an agronomist. Today, she wears multiple hats—managing field crops and hen health while running her own seed dealership and serving as a volunteer firefighter. Morgan believes leadership is about helping to build an industry where women’s unique skills are recognized as a driving force for the future.

Karin found her true calling later in life, pivoting from decades as a successful restaurant owner and finance professional to an exciting career as a regional manager for Burnbrae Farms. She combines her sharp business sense with a hands-on passion for agriculture, managing multiple farms in the province. This career change revealed the incredible complexity of the egg sector, which for Karin feels like a natural fit.

Claire bridges two worlds with passion and purpose, applying her skills as a French immersion teacher to educate the next generation about where their food comes from. On her family farm, she’s a hands-on egg, crop and turkey farmer. And in her community and industry, Claire serves as a regional councillor with Egg Farmers of Ontario. Her goal is to model strong female leadership, ensuring women have a seat at the table in shaping policy and the future of farming.

Breeanna’s path to the barn was unconventional, taking her from the driver’s seat of a semi-truck to a PhD in agriculture before deciding to farm full-time. As a first generation egg farmer, she and her husband now operate a thriving farm where they focus on connecting with consumers. For Breeanna, farming is about stewardship and creating a sustainable legacy that offers a solid future for the next generation.

Tiffany swapped a career as a lab technician to follow her heart back to agriculture, establishing a first generation egg farm with her husband. Today, she is the driving force behind the operation, balancing full-time farming with work at a veterinary clinic and raising four young children. Taking this leap of faith was about building a meaningful future and contributing to Canada’s food security.

As a professional, Dianna blends the practical with the creative, applying the eye for detail she’s honed as an interior designer to the business of farming. Growing up in the industry, she now manages the administrative and strategic side of her family’s farm, ensuring their operation runs as smoothly as her design projects. For Dianna, farming offers a unique sense of connection, grounding her work in the knowledge that she is helping to feed families across the country.

We are committed to empowering passionate leaders who are shaping a bright future for the Canadian egg industry. Want to learn more? Check out our women in the egg industry program fact sheet for all the details.
